A day after Bhojpuri film actress Akanksha Dubey was founded dead in her hotel room in Varanasi, singer Samar Singh and his brother, Sanjay Singh, were booked for abetment to suicide. An FIR was filed, based on a complaint from Akanksha’s mother.
The mother alleged that Akanksha had worked with Samar for three years, but he did not pay her anything. She added that he had promised to pay her Rs. 70,000 for each album, and owed her over Rs. 3 crore as she had worked for him in many albums and had also performed for him. The mother also alleged that Samar used to torture and thrash her whenever she asked for her payment. She added that he used to harass her whenever she tried to work with other artistes.
Akanksha’s body was sent for post mortem.
