BMC BREAKS DOWN ILLEGAL CONSTRUCTIONS IN KANGANA RANAUT’S OFFICE | 9 September, 2020

Hours before Kangana Ranaut set foot in Bombay today (9th September), the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation employees tore down her office at Pali Hill, Bandra in Bombay, citing illegal constructions and alterations. The actress had moved the high court and although the court granted a stay on the scheduled demolition, the act had been done by the time the verdict came. The BMC, it is learnt, fearing a stay order, swung into action with bulldozers and excavating machines. The BMC itself had moved the court to ensure that ex parte orders were not issued if Kangana approached it to stop the demolition.

Just recently, Kangana criticised the Bombay police and likened the city to Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. This led to a war of words between her and ruling party Shiv Sena’s Sanjay Raut. The demolition of the constructions made by Kangana in her plush office seems to be an act of retaliation by the Shiv Sena. It is reported that the actress had been served a notice for the illegal constructions and was asked to reply within 24 hours which got over today morning.

The BMC notice pasted outside her office listed out a number of unauthorised constructions viz. of a toilet, kitchen, pantry on the ground floor, an unauthorised room built on the first floor, using a wooden partition, and illegal inclusion of a second-floor balcony into habitable area.
