The Bombay crime branch’s property cell on 10th February arrested one Tanvir Akhil Hashmi alias Tan, a director of C-grade films from Surat, in the pornographic video case. This was the ninth arrest in the case in which actress and model Gehana Vasisth was arrested on 7th February. Hashmi was produced before a court and remanded to police custody till February 15.
Hashmi was said to have made eight porn movies in Bombay and Surat and sold these to Gehana who uploaded them on her website, GV Studios. Hashmi’s videos were also uploaded on apps and websites like Eight Shot and Nuefliks.
It is learnt that different gangs were shooting porn videos and providing them to UK-based company, Kenrin, through Umesh Kamat who was arrested on 8th. Kamat was allegedly uploading the videos on subscription-based mobile apps.
