The Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) attached to the Mira Bhayandar Vasai Virar police today (July 19) arrested three persons including C-grade film producer Parmanand Balchandani for running a sex racket in a duplex flat in a plush housing society at Mira Road in Thane district. It is alleged that the sex racket has been running in the flat since more than a decade.
The society people said, a number of complaints had been filed in the past but action has been taken only now. The police felt, the film producer may be luring girls with a promise to give them a break in films, and then initiating them into the flesh trade. Alongwith Balchandani, two pimps including a woman were arrested. The police have registered an offence under various sections of the IPC and the Prevention of Immoral Trafficking Act, 1956 against the three who have been remanded to custody.
