The Carnival chain of multiplexes is in the red. Rather, deep red! It has not paid the shares of many distributors and the dues run into many many crores of rupees. It has now emerged that while retrenching staff, it has not even cleared their dues. Payments to creditors, vendors etc. not being made on due dates are another thing which the trade is discussing in not-so-hushed tones. Of course, the Coronvirus lockdown pandemic has only aggravated matters for Srikant Bhasi’s Carnival Cinemas. But know-alls in the industry wonder where and how the national multiplex chain will be able to turn the corner.
