The regional officer (RO) of the Bombay regional office of the Central Board of Film Certification, Mahesh Patil, has exited. It s not known whether he resigned or was asked to leave.
The exit is said to be connected to the recent allegations of Tamil film actor Vishal that he had to pay a bribe of Rs. 6.50 lakh to the CBFC to get the Hindi dubbed version of his film, Mark Antony, certified. The CBI had reportedly registered a case against a few CBFC officials and three others. The three others have been identified as Merlin Menaga, Jeeja Ramdas and Rajan M. According to CBI officials, Menaga conspired with the other two and some unknown CBFC officials to demand a bribe of Rs. 7 lakh from the complainant in September this year.
