The Congress on 30th August demanded a CBI probe into the political links of producer Sandeep Singh and the BJP, in its effort to unravel the mystery surrounding Sushant Singh Rajput’s death. Although Sushant allegedly died by suicide, the CBI is now probing whether it was a murder or whether someone abetted the suicide. Sandeep Singh was reportedly very friendly with Sushant and it is said that he was among the first to reach Sushant’s house when news about his alleged suicide broke. Sandeep Singh had produced a biopic on Narendra Modi, titled PM Narendra Modi. Maharashtra minister for home affairs, Anil Deshmukh, has forwarded the Congress’ plea to the CBI for its consideration.
The Congress alleged that even though his company had shown losses, Singh was the lone film producer whom the Vibrant Gujarat in 2019 signed a Rs. 177-crore agreement with. The Supreme Court had last week upheld the transfer to the CBI of an FIR lodged by Sushant’s father in Patna against actress Rhea Chakraborty and others for allegedly abetting his son’s suicide and misappropriating his money.
