A vacation bench of the Bombay high court on December 26 suspended the lookout circular (LOC) against actress Rhea Chakraborty and allowed her to travel to Dubai for a week from December 27, 2023 to January 2, 2024 for a meet-and-greet event of a pet food as its brand ambassador. The actress had sought suspension of the LOC for a week and permission to travel abroad. The LOC was issued in connection with the case of the alleged abetment to suicide of her boyfriend, actor Sushant Singh Rajput, in June 2020. Rhea told the court, she had been falsely implicated in the case.
Her advocates argued that travelling was a fundamental right. They told the court that the chargesheet in the case had not yet been filed against her. The CBI opposed her plea, questioning the high court’s jurisdiction to grant her any relief. The vacation bench of Justices Kamal Khata and Jitendra Jain permitted her to travel on conditions earlier set for her brother, Showik.
