DEATH THREATS FOR NUSRAT JAHAN | 1 October, 2020

Actress-MP Nusrat Jahan on 29th September sought protection from the Indian high commissioner in the UK after receiving death threats over an Instagram post in which she wished her followers a “Shubho Mahalaya” along with a picture of herself posing as Goddess Durga in traditional attire. She has also alerted the ministry of external affairs and the Bengal government. Nusrat has been in London since 27th September for the shooting of a Bengali film and will stay there till 16th October. She has also drawn the ire of hardliners. In UP’s Deoband town, clerics have asked her to apologise for posing as Goddess Durga, which, they said, was against Islam.
