‘DELIVERY BOY’ (MARATHI) REVIEW

Lucia Entertainment’s Delivery Boy (Marathi; UA) is the story of two small-time real estate agents and a doctor.

Bhau (Prathamesh Parab) and Chochya (Prithvik Pratap) are small-time estate agents in a small town. They meet Dr. Amruta Deshmukh (Ankita Landepatil) who comes from the city to open a surrogacy hospital in the town. The two help Dr. Deshmukh set up the hospital. Her hospital, after initial resistance from the ladies of the town, soon starts doing brisk business. Dr. Verma (Vijay Patwardhan) runs a similar hospital in the town and threatens Dr. Deshmukh with dire consequences if she doesn’t shut down her hospital. But Dr. Deshmukh goes ahead full throttle. One surrogate mother, Shalan (Shreya Kulkarni), runs away with the child in her womb as she wants to keep the baby after birth. On Shalan’s delivery, the baby was to be given by Dr. Deshmukh to MLA Sanjay Bhosle (Ganesh Yadav). Bhau and Chochya are now assigned the task of searching for Shalan. The duo learns that Shalan is being held captive in MLA Sanjay Bhosle’s house. What happens thereafter? Who delivers Shalan’s baby? Does Shalan keep the baby or is it delivered to MLA Sanjay Bhosle?

Ram Khatmode and Vinod Vanve have written a story which doesn’t have much appeal for the audience. The entire angle of surrogacy gets on the audience’s nerves after a point of time. The duo’s screenplay is average. Emotions are conspicuous by their absence. Even otherwise, the proceedings fail to evoke any kind of feelings in the viewers’ hearts. In other words, the audience doesn’t feel for any character or characters in particular. The duo’s dialogues are not up to the mark.

Prathamesh Parab does a fair job as Bhau. Prithvik Pratap is okay as Chochya. Ankita Landepatil is alright as Dr. Amruta Deshmukh. Ganesh Yadav acts ably as MLA Sanjay Bhosle. Vijay Patwardhan is ordinary as Dr. Verma. Shreya Kulkarni lends fair support as Shalan. Sujata Mogal lends routine support in the role of Sulakshana, wife of MLA Sanjay Bhosle. Others pass muster.

Mohsin Khan’s direction is not up to the mark. Chinar-Mahesh’s music is okay while his background music is so-so. Lyrics (Prashant Madpuwar and Ram Khatmode) are alright. Jeet Singh’s choreography is fair. Camerawork (by Tanveer Reyaz Syed) is quite good. Sanjiv Waman Rane’s art direction is nothing to shout about. Deven Murdeshwar’s editing ought to have been sharper.

On the whole, Delivery Boy is a flop show.

Released on 9-2-’24 at Plaza (daily 1 show) and other cinemas of Bombay by Cinepolis India thru August Entertainment. Publicity: very ordinary. Opening: poor.
