‘DIL BEDHUND’ (MARATHI) REVIEW | 19 May, 2023

Released this week in Maharashtra, Ocean Curves Entertainment Pvt. Ltd.’s Dil Bedhund (Marathi; UA) is the story of a young boy who falls in love with a girl who is much older than him.

Raju (Hansraj Jagtap) lives in a village and studies in class X. He loves Janhvi (Sakshi Chaudhari) who is much older than him. When he expresses his love to her, Janhvi tells him that she would reply if he stood first in the examinations. Raju works hard and, in fact, tops in Std. X in the entire village. However, Raju is devastated when Janhvi doesn’t reciprocate his love. What happens thereafter?

Guddu Dewangan has penned a story which doesn’t really find a place in the viewers’ hearts in spite of being a love story. Santosh Gopalrao Funde’s screenplay is not half as exciting or entertaining as it should’ve been. Incidents look contrived and, therefore, lose in impact. Emotions simply fail to touch the heart. Frankly, Raju’s love story is so one-sided and, if one may say so, so silly that the audience aren’t one bit inclined to feel sorry for him. Dialogues are ordinary.

Hansraj Jagtap is so-so as Raju. Sakshi Chaudhari is okay as Janhvi. Jayesh Chavan and Aarti Kuthe lend routine support. Others barely pass muster.

Santosh Gopalrao Funde’s direction is weak. Swapnil Shivankar’s music and K. Swami’s lyrics are ordinary. Vilas Raut’s choreography is average. Pawan Reddy’s camerawork is nothing to shout about. Ravi Patil’s editing is loose.

On the whole, Dil Bedhund is a flop fare.
