‘DIL MADHARAASI’ (DUBBED) REVIEW | 5 September, 2025

Sri Lakshmi Movies’ Dil Madharaasi (dubbed from Tamil film Madharaasi; UA) is the story of how a young man, who wants to end his life, is used by an NIA officer to bring two gun smugglers to book.

Virat (Vidyut Jammwal) and Chirag (Shabeer Kallarakkal) run a syndicate which is trying to spread the gun culture in Tamil Nadu by smuggling guns. National Investigation Agency (NIA) officer Prem (Biju Menon) tries to stop them but is injured in the face-off. While recovering in hospital, Prem meets Raghu (Sivakarthikeyan) who is in hospital after a failed suicide attempt. Prem ropes in Raghu to stop the gun smuggling. When Raghu gets into the murky world, his erstwhile girlfriend, Malathy (Rukmini Vasanth), is taken captive by Chirag. What happens thereafter?

A.R. Murugadoss has written a story which doesn’t have strong legs to stand on. Why an NIA officer would send a commoner to stop a gun-smuggling racket is not clear and, therefore, it doesn’t make sense when Prem asks Raghu to go on the job — and this merely because Raghu, as it is, wants to end his life! A.R. Murugadoss’ screenplay is interesting at places but the predictability factor comes out loud and clear. Dialogues are so-so.

Sivakarthikeyan does a fine job as Raghu. Rukmini Vasanth is alright as Malathy. Vidyut Jammwal shines as Virat. Shabeer Kallarakkal is lovely in the role of Chirag. Biju Menon makes his presence felt as NIA officer Prem. Monisha Vijay, Vikranth, Prem Kumar, Sanjay, Sachana Namidass, Thalaivasal Vijay, Vinodhini Vaidyanathan, Santhana Bharathi and Rishi Rithvik provide average support.

A.R. Murugadoss’ direction is ordinary. Anirudh Ravichander’s music is fair; the title track is good. Lyrics are average. Song picturisations are eye-filling. Background music ought to have been more effective. Sudeep Elamon’s camerawork is fair. Arun Venjaramoodu’s art direction is proper. A. Sreekar Prasad’s editing is crisp. Dubbing is nice.

On the whole, Dil Madharaasi cannot hope to do well at the Hindi box-office because it is very ordinary.

Released on 5-9-’25 at Galaxy (daily 2 shows) and other cinemas of Bombay thru Karmic Films. Publicity & opening: dull. …….Also released all over. Opening was poor everywhere.
