The Punjabi film industry is on a roll. After Puaada, Chal Mera Putt 2, Qismat 2 and Chal Mera Putt 3, it is now the turn of Honsla Rakh to entice the public to the cinemas. The Diljit Dosanjh starrer, directed by Amarjit Singh and Amarjit Singh Saron, opened to absolutely brilliant hoses today (15th October). In East Punjab circuit alone, the film could end up netting Rs. 1.90 crore to 2 crore on the first day. In the rest of the country, it may collect an additional Rs. 70 to 80 lakh, which will be a record by leaps and bounds. Shadaa had netted Rs. 0.50 crore on the first day in circuits other than East Punjab while Carry On Jatta 2 had collected Rs. 0.36 crore on day 1 from the rest of India (other than East Punjab). Honsla Rakh could end its first day (all-India) at a record-breaking Rs. 2.60 to 2.80 crore. If this happens, the film will have broken the record for all-India collections of Punjabi films. The current record is held by Shadaa which had netted Rs. 2.40 crore all-India. Carry On Jatta 2 was a close second with an all-India first-day total of Rs. 2.37 crore. The first-day figures for East Punjab are: Carry On Jatta 2 – Rs. 2.01 crore, Shadaa – Rs. 1.90 crore.
