Nine years after actress Bhagyashree’s in-laws were drugged and robbed of Rs. 25 lakh at their Vile Parle home in Bombay, a sessions court in Bombay recently acquitted two accused persons due to lack of evidence. Bhagyashree’s husband, Himalaya Dasani, and the investigating officer were the only two witnesses who deposed before the court which did not find enough evidence to prosecute the two accused — Pinto Nishad, a carpenter, and Triveni Mahesh, a housekeeper. The two had been absconding and were later caught.
It was alleged that on January 24, 2014, the accused administered an injurious substance to Himalaya’s parents with intention to cause hurt and to commit theft.
In court, Himalaya could not identify any accused.
