The Ahmedabad city crime branch on May 14 filed a case of forgery against film director Avinash Das (Anaarkali Of Aarah) for allegedly spreading false news. He was also charged with insulting the national honour as he had earlier shared an alleged obscene picture of a woman with the Indian flag.
The police came across a post of March 17, where Das had shared an alleged obscene picture of a woman with the Indian tricolour painted on her body. On May 8, Avinash Das shared a five-year-old photograph of IAS officer Pooja Singhal of Jharkhand with home minister Amit Shah. According to the police, he posted the picture with the mala fide intention of instilling misunderstanding in people’s minds and for tarnishing the image of the home minister who has been appointed on one of the top posts of the country. In his tweet showing Shah and Singhal, Avinash had mentioned that the picture was clicked recently. It may be mentioned here that Pooja Singhal was on May 11 arrested by the Enforcement Directorate in a Rs. 18 crore MGNREGA scam. Huge amount of cash was found in her house.
