The Thane police on May 14 arrested Marathi television actress Ketaki Chitale for allegedly sharing a derogatory post against NCP chief Sharad Pawar on her social media account. The post was written by someone else and shared on her Facebook wall. The offence was registered by an NCP functionary.
Responding to media queries in Nanded, Pawar said, he didn’t know Chitale and had no knowledge about the post. It may be mentioned here that the post was criticised by leaders across the political spectrum. Deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar and NCP minister Jitendra Awhad sharply criticised Ketaki Chitale. BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis and MNS leader Raj Thackeray condemned the post. Referring to the post, Maharashtra chief minister Uddhav Thackeray said that this was not Maharashtra’s culture.
