FILMMAKER WITHDRAWS PLEA IN HC | 25 May, 2022

Director Avinash Das, booked in Ahmedabad for allegedly insulting the Indian flag and posting a mischievous item about the home minister, recently withdrew his plea before the Bombay high court for transit pre-arrest bail after the vacation court was not inclined to grant it. The single-judge bench of Justice Bharati Dangre suggested that the plea be withdrawn and filed before the appropriate court in Gujarat.

Das’ advocate told the court that he feared that the police officer may call and ask him to surrender before the police station in Ahmedabad, or the police might visit his home and arrest him in Bombay.

The FIR alleged that he had shared a picture of home minister Amit Shah with an IAS officer who was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate in a money laundering case and alleged that it was a recent picture although it was an old one, and also shared an allegedly morphed photograph of a woman wearing the tricolour.
