Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Frozen II (dubbed from the Hollywood film of the same name) is a computer animation musical fantasy.
Elsa, the Snow Queen (voice of Priyanka Chopra), and her sister, Anna (voice of Parineeti Chopra), embark on an adventure far away from their kingdom of Arendelle. Elsa has the powers to change the future of the people of their kingdom and for that, the two sisters travel to an ancient forest of an enchanted land. They are aided in their mission by Kristoff (voice of Manish Paul), Olaf (voice of Deven Bhojani) and Sven.
Jennifer Lee, Chris Buck, Marc Smith, Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez have penned a fairy tale which is interesting in parts. Jennifer Lee’s screenplay is engaging but mostly for kids. Being an animation film, its appeal among the Hindi-speaking audiences will be limited. Kausar Munir’s dialogues are fair.
Priyanka Chopra’s voice acting for Elsa is excellent. Parineeti. Chopra has also done a superb job of the voice acting for Anna. Other voice actors, including Manish Paul, Deven Bhojani and Ghattamaneni Sitara (voice of little Elsa), have all performed ably.
Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee’s direction caters mainly to the kids audience. Christopher Beck’s music is appropriate. Computer animation is outstanding. The film is quite a visual treat. Dubbing is very good. Jeff Draheim’s editing is quite sharp.
On the whole, Frozen II is for kids mainly but being an animation film, it has limitations as far as its commercial prospects among the Hindi cinema-going audiences are concerned. Business in the big cities will be fair on the strength of the audiences of the multiplexes. However, the original English version has the potential to do well in India.
Released on 22-11-’19 at Gemini (daily 2 shows) and other cinemas of Bombay by UTV Software Communications Ltd. Publicity: quite alright. Opening: okay. …….Also released all over. Opening was so-so but the initial of the original English version was nice.
