Kimayagar Films LLP, Dreamweaver Entertainment and Sunshine Studios’ Gaarud (Marathi; A) is a film about life’s journey. Some human beings seek to realise their dreams while some others search for the purpose of their life. Very often, people act beyond the limits of reasoning and emotions.
Dr. Pramod Ratnakar Khadilkar has written a story which borders on the philosophical. The screenplay, penned by Dr. Pramod Khadilkar and Pratap Sonale, is not too engaging. It often gets preachy and, therefore, offers very little entertainment. The duo’s dialogues are ordinary.
Girish Kulkarni is very good as R.K. Shashank Shende does a fine job as Gajanan. Payal Pande is okay as Charulata. Sachin Valanju lends fair support as Shridhar. Dhananjay Sardeshpande is alright as Anna Khot. Trupti Raut’s acting is okay in the role of Charulata’s mother. Santosh Abale, Uma Namjoshi and Pandit Dhavle are adequate. Others are passable.
Pratap Vitthalrao Sonale’s direction is dull, limited as it is by the weak script. Onkar Sangoram’s music is not appealing. Lyrics (Onkar Sangoram and and Dr. Pramod Khadilkar) are fair. Sanket Patil’s background music is ordinary. Priyashankar Ghosh’s camerawork is average. Rupesh Newagi’s art direction is functional. Dinesh Poojari and Nainesh Diggankar’s editing leaves something to be desired.
On the whole, Gaarud is a weak fare.
Released on 25-10-’24 at Movie Time Goregaon (daily 1 show) and other cinemas of Bombay by Sunshine Studios. Publicity & opening: very poor.
