Chetanraj Films’ Geethasakshiga (dubbed from the Telugu film of the same name; UA) is the story of a young man, Arjun (Aadarsh), who is jailed for alleged rape and murder. After five years, ACP Roopesh (Roopesh Shetty) reopens the case. The revelations are shocking. Was Arjun guilty? Or had he been framed?
Chetanraj Maisuriya’s story is oft-repeated and offers no novelty. Anthony Mattipalli has written a screenplay which offers predictable scenes and routine turns and twists. The drama, therefore, fails to engage the audience. Even the courtroom scenes look dull. Romance is unexciting. Comedy is almost absent. Emotions don’t touch the heart. All in all, the screenplay is weak. Dialogues are routine.
Aadarsh does well in the role of Arjun. Chitra Sukla performs ably as Amoolya. Roopesh Shetty is effective as ACP Roopesh. Srikanth Iyengar is alright. Bharani Shankar is adequate. Anitha Chowdhary makes her presence felt. Sudarshan and Raja Ravindra have been wasted.
Anthony Mattipalli’s direction is routine. Music (Gopi Sundar) does not offer much for the Hindi film-going audience. Lyrics are average. Yashwanth-Aneesh’s choreography is alright. Venkatahanuma Nariseti’s cinematography is proper. Prudhvi’s action and stunt scenes afford some thrill. Koyyalamudi Rakesh’s sets are okay. Kishore Maddali’s editing is a bit loose. Dubbing is average.
On the whole, Geethasakshiga is a flop show.
