GUJARAT FOLLOWS SUIT, ASKS CINEMAS TO SHUT DOWN | 15 March, 2020

Gujarat has become the latest state to ask cinemas to close down as a step to prevent the spread of the dreaded coronavirus. The government has ordered cinemas, among other public places, to remain closed from 16th March to 30th March. Below is given the tweet of the Gujarat chief secretary, Anil Mukim, with regard to the cinema closure.

Kerala and Jammu were among the first to order cinemas to remain shut. Delhi, Bihar, Karnataka, Punjab, Rajasthan, Orissa, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Chhattisgarh, and Maharashtra (only in a handful of cities) were the other governments which followed suit. After Gujarat, it may be the turn of the Uttar Pradesh government and the Haryana government.
