Haryana’s BJP-JJP coalition government, led by chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar, granted Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh Insan, the incarcerated Dera Sacha Sauda chief and actor-writer-producer-director, a day’s parole on 24th October. The parole was given to allow him to meet his ailing mother in a hospital in Gurgaon.
Gurmeet Ram Rahim has been lodged in Sunaria jail of Rohtak since August 2017 for rape and murder. He was taken to Gurgaon under heavy security on the morning of October 24 and stayed with his mother in hospital till evening before being brought back to Sunaria jail. Almost 300 jawans were involved in the operation to transport Gurmeet to and fro Gurgaon. The Rohtak and Gurgaon district administrations worked in close coordination with one another to carry out the mission. Reportedly, the exercise was a hush-hush affair in Haryana as only the chief minister and a few senior government officials had information about the exercise.
