West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee was on September 10 learnt to have been “responsive” to the idea of setting up a panel on the lines of Kerala’s Justice K. Hema Committee to probe sexual abuse in the Bengali film industry. The suggestion came from actress Ritabhari Chakraborty who had late last month approached the CM and met her on September 10.
Ritabhari said, “She has assigned senior ministers to study the Hema Committee report to understand how the probe was conducted and how the question-answer sessions were carried out.”
