‘HYA GOSHTILA NAVACH NAHI’ (MARATHI) REVIEW | 8 November, 2024

Panorama Studios and Pios Medilinks Pvt. Ltd.’s Hya Goshtila Navach Nahi (Marathi; UA) is the story of a college topper.

Mukund (Jaydeep Kodolikar) is brilliant in studies. He and his room partner, Rohit (Prathamesh Atre), study textile engineering in the same college. Mukund’s brother (Avdhoot Potdar) is very keen to see Mukund graduate with flying colours. However, Mukund’s grades go down because Rohit and other friends often take him out till late night for fun. Mukund also falls in love with a girl, Amruta (Anuradha Dhamane), who is also a student.

After the final examinations, all the students return to their respective homes in different cities and towns. Once home, Mukund is diagnosed with kidney failure. Kidney transplantation is not possible because his brother and mother’s blood group does not match his own blood group. What happens thereafter?

The story is based on Dr. Satishkumar Adgonda Patil’s novel, Mrityusparsh. It is not a very interesting tale. Sandeep Sawant’s screenplay is average. While the college romance and some comedy scenes are entertaining, the main drama is neither entertaining nor engaging enough. Sandeep Sawant’s dialogues are okay.

Jaydeep Kodolikar does an average job as Mukund. Prathamesh Atre is okay in the role of Rohit. Chaitanya Jawalgekar is so-so as Sachin. Avdhoot Potdar lends ordinary support as Mukund’s brother. Pratiksha Khasnis is fair as Mukund’s sister, Sampada. Seema Makote lends routine support in the role of Mukund’s mother. Anuradha Dhamane gives an average performance in the brief role of Amruta. Others do as needed.

Sandeep Sawant’s direction is nothing to shout about. He has not been able to make an engaging and moving drama. Parag Phadke’s music and lyrics are functional. Vivek Patil and Akash Jadhav’s background music is routine. Priyashanker Ghosh’s cinematography is of a fairly nice standard. Art direction (by Uttam Sajane, Heena Shaikh, Mandar Kumbhar and Vishal Gawde) is fair. Dinesh Poojari’s editing leaves something to be desired.

On the whole, Hya Goshtila Navach Nahi is a dull fare.

Released on 8-11-’24 at Gem (daily 1 show) and other cinemas of Bombay by Panorama Studios. Publicity & opening: weak.
