Several celebrities from the Indian film industry have been made members of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. They will be eligible to nominate and vote in the upcoming 97th Oscars in 2025. Most categories are nominated by members of the corresponding branch only. For instance, actors nominate actors, costume designers nominate costume designers, etc. All voting members are eligible to select nominees for the Best Picture.
The members from the Indian film industry this year are:
♦ Shabana Azmi has been invited to join the Actors’ branch.
♦ Filmmaker S.S. Rajamouli has been included in the Directors’ branch.
♦ Filmmaker Rima Das has also been invited in the Directors’ branch.
♦ Producer Ritesh Sidhwani will be part of the Producers’ branch.
♦ Cameraman Ravi Varman has been asked to be a part of the Cinematographers’ branch.
♦ Costume designer Rama Rajamouli (wife of filmmaker S.S. Rajamouli) has been invited to be a part of the Costume Designers’ branch.
♦ Costume designer Sheetal Sharma will be a part of the Costume Designers’ branch.
♦ Prem Rakshith, who choreographed the Naatu Naatu song in RRR, has been made a part of the Production and Technology branch.
♦ Documentary filmmaker Hemal Trivedi has been invited to join the Documentary branch.
♦ India-born Canadian filmmaker Nisha Pahuja has also been made a part of the Documentary segment.
