A delegation of the Indian film industry recently met Jammu & Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to discuss film initiatives in Jammu & Kashmir. The delegation comprised Rajkumar Santoshi, Citara founder Pradeep (Tutu) Sharma, Rumi Jafri, Jayantilal Gada, Karim Morani, Shashi Ranjan, Citara managing director Rahul Nehra and others.
The delegation conveyed its keen interest in supporting the growth of the entertainment industry in Jammu and Kashmir. Among the key proposals discussed were the institution of film and television awards specific to the region, development and promotion of Kashmir-centric films, completion of the Pahalgam Cinema and Museum project, establishment of a dedicated Film City, and increasing the density of cinema screens across the union territory.
The delegation expressed its confidence in the region’s potential to emerge as a vibrant hub for cinema, content creation, and cultural exchange. It emphasised that these initiatives would not only enhance the cinematic landscape of Jammu and Kashmir but also contribute significantly to employment generation, local talent development, and revenue enhancement for the state.
