INTERIM RELIEF FOR SHWETA TIWARI IN BRITISH VISA FORGERY CASE | 14 March, 2021

A sessions court in Bombay on 12th March granted interim relief to actress Shweta Tiwari after she filed an anticipatory bail plea in a forgery case. Her estranged husband, Abhinav Kohli, lodged a complaint that she had forged his no-objection certificate while applying for a British visa for their one-year-old son in 2017. The visa application had been subsequently rejected.

Shweta’s advocate argued that an FIR was lodged by Abhinav out of vengeance and personal vendetta and to spite her. The court said, there was no need for her immediate custodial interrogation as the alleged forgery was committed “long back in 2017”. The sessions court added that the applicant can be protected from arrest as of now.
