A case of cheating, forgery, breach of trust and criminal conspiracy was registered yesterday (25th March) at the MRA Marg police station against the directors, auditors and CEO of DHFL for cheating journalist and film writer Rommel Rodrigues of Rs. 1 crore. Rodrigues approached the police first but when they did not register a complaint, he went to court which directed the police to probe the matter. An FIR was then registered.
Those named as accused are Dewan Housing Finance Corporation Ltd. (DHFL) director Dheeraj Wadhawan who is also a film producer. According to the complaint, DHFL offered to the public fixed deposits and non-convertible debentures. The complaint added, the FD scheme was engineered so that DHFL could receive lumpsum deposits from investors/depositors.
