Prashanth Neel’s sequel to K.G.F. just got hotter with the grand release of its even grander trailer last evening (27th March) in Bangalore. Producer Vijay Kiragandur organised a huge event for the launch of the trailer of easily one of the most anticipated films of the year, of not just Kannada cinema but also of Indian cinema.
The success of K.G.F. in 2018 has made K.G.F. a brand with which the audience connects fast. The Hindi dubbed version had started slow but had gone on to net box-office collections which were 20 times the first day’s collections! This would never have been possible had the public reports not been fantastic. The sequel, K.G.F. Chapter 2, which, like the first part, stars Kannada superstar Yash, has been made on a far grander scale than the first part. The Rs. 100-crore budgeted sequel has Sanjay Dutt playing the main antagonist in the film, and his get-up will soon become a topic of discussion among the public. Raveena Tandon is cast in a key role in the action film which repeats Srinidhi Shetty in the female lead, and co-stars Prakash Raj.
The 2-minutes-59-seconds trailer gives a glimpse into what one can expect in the second of the two-part series. One always knew that K.G.F. Chapter 2 would open excellently but after the release of the trailer, the faith in the film and the confidence that it would open huge only increased. In fact, no sooner was the trailer released than there was a wave of excitement that spread through the exhibition community of the Hindi film trade — as it must have, in the exhibition sectors of the Kannada, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam film trades, for sure. As you must’ve guessed, the Kannada film has been dubbed in the other three South Indian languages, besides Hindi. All the versions are slated for release on 14th April.
Prashanth Neel has retained the technical team of the first part, in the sequel too. For instance, Ravi Basrur has scored the music and the background music, and Bhuvan Gowda is the cinematographer.
The producer couldn’t have selected a better host for the trailer launch event than Karan Johar because the man exudes so much positivity that it almost seemed like K.G.F. Chapter 2 had been declared a hit by the public. Actually, after watching the trailer, there was so much excitement in the air that it did seem that becoming a huge hit was now a mere formality for K.G.F. Chapter 2!
The Malayalam version is being presented by Malayalam films’ superstar Prithviraj Sukumaran. The Hindi version is presented by Ritesh Sidhwani, Farhan Akhtar and Anil Thadani. The Telugu version is presented by Dil Raju while the Tamil version, by Dream Warrior Pictures.
