Rishab Shetty’s upcoming film, Kantara: Chapter 1, is is in the midst of a dispute in Kerala due to a disagreement over revenue-sharing terms between its distributors and exhibitors.
The Film Exhibitors Union of Kerala (FEUOK) has announced that its members will not screen the film until Prithviraj Productions, led by actor Prithviraj Sukumaran, agrees to its proposed terms. The conflict relates to the revenue-sharing terms for the first two weeks. While FEUOK is willing to pay the usual 50% of net collections, Prithviraj Productions (which is distributing the film in Kerala) is demanding 55%.
Kantara: Chapter 1 is slated for release on October 2. A prequel to Kantara, it is written and directed by Rishab Shetty.
