The Film Exhibitors United Organisation of Kerala (FEUOK) said on 15th March that exhibitors would ban all films starring or produced by Dulquer Salmaan. This followed an announcement that his Malayalam film, Salute, would release on an OTT platform, bypassing theatrical release. The film was scheduled to hit the big screens in January this year but was postponed due to the rise in number of Omicron cases. Then, it was announced that the film would premiere on OTT.
“The ban is our protest against him for disregarding the contract signed with theatre owners,” said FEUOK president K. Vijayakumar.
