Notable Marathi and Hindi film actor Kishor Nandlaskar breathed his last today (20th April) at a hospital in Thane. He had tested positive for the novel coronavirus last week and had to be admitted to a COVID centre in Thane on 14th April when his oxygen level went down. He breathed his last this afternoon.
Kishor Nandlaskar had acted in a number of Marathi films and some Hindi films too. He debuted in the Marahi film Ina Mina Dika in 1989. Some of the other Marathi films he had acted in were Ek Shodh, Nashibachi Aishi Taishi, Saare Sajjan, Shejari Shejari, Halad Rusli Kunku Hasle, Kutha Bolu Naka and Are Soda Batli Bai. Among the Hindi films he was seen in were Singham, Simmba, Vaastav and Khakee. His character of Sannata in Mahesh Manjrekar’s Jis Desh Mein Ganga Rehta Hai had become hugely popular. In all, he had acted in around 30 films, besides stage plays and television serials.
A little-known incident about Kishor Nandlaskar is that for a long time, he used to sleep at nights in a temple near his small home because there were too many members in his family. When this fact was brought to the notice of the then chief minister of Maharashtra, Vilasrao Deshmukh, he arranged for a flat for the actor. It is said that Kishor burst into tears when he was handed over the key to the flat at Mantralaya.
