LAKSHADWEEP ACTIVIST-ACTRESS BOOKED FOR BIO-WEAPON REMARK | 11 June, 2021

A case was registered recently against an activist-actress based in Lakshadweep after she commented in a debate on a Malayalam TV channel that a “bio-weapon” was used against the island. Aisha Sultana made the comment while discussing the change in SOPs in Lakshadweep and the subsequent surge in COVID-19 cases. She has been in the forefront of the campaign against the policies of the present Lakshadweep administration. “…Is it due to the care given by the Centre that now over 100 cases are daily getting reported from Lakshadweep where there were zero cases? What they have used is a bio-weapon, I can say with clarity…,” said Sultana during the debate. She later clarified that she had referred to the Union territory’s administrator, Praful K. Patel, as a bio-weapon.

The Kavaratti police said that a case had been registered and an FIR, lodged.
