This week’s ANEK opened to dull houses. The appreciation is also missing. Hollywood film TOP GUN: MAVERICK (dubbed and original English versions) was also a slow starter this week. It netted just about Rs. 2 crore on the opening day (Thursday, May 26).
Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 has done remarkably well in its first week. The horror comedy collected Rs. 14.11 crore on the opening day. After the wonderful start, collections jumped to Rs. 18.34 crore on Saturday. The Sunday figure was an astounding Rs. 23.51 crore, taking the first weekend’s total to a supremely impressive Rs. 55.96 crore. Collections during the weekdays were also excellent: Monday – Rs. 10.75 crore, Tuesday – Rs. 9.56 crore, Wednesday – Rs. 8.71 crore, Thursday – Rs. 7.27 crore. Therefore, the total for the weekdays was a terrific Rs. 36.29 crore. In this way, the first week closed at Rs. 92.25 crore.
Dhaakad has bombed from North to South and East to West. The film is such a resounding flop that it did not collect even Rs. 1 crore on a single day of the first week. The first weekend closed at Rs. 1.60 crore. The film added just Rs. 0.60 crore to its kitty during the weekdays, taking its first week’s total to Rs. 2.20 crore only. Almost the entire cost of production would be a dead loss as recoveries from satellite and digital rights would be miserable after such a horrendous performance at the box-office.
Chitrakut met with a disastrous fate in 1st week.
Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness (dubbed and original English versions) added Rs. 7.10 crore to its kitty in the third week. Grand total for 3 weeks: Rs. 129.50 crore.
K.G.F. Chapter 2 (dubbed) began its sixth weekend with a take of Rs. 0.32 crore. Collections on Saturday and Sunday increased to Rs. 0.55 crore and Rs. 0.83 crore respectively. In this way, the weekend’s total was Rs. 1.70 crore. Collections for the weekdays were as follows: Monday – Rs. 0.32 crore, Tuesday – Rs. 0.28 crore, Wednesday – Rs. 0.27 crore, Thursday – Rs. 0.22 crore. With the total for the weekdays being Rs. 1.09 crore, the sixth week’s total was Rs. 2.79 crore. Grand total for 6 weeks: Rs. 433.74 crore.
