‘SATYAMEVA JAYATE 2’ BOMBS, ‘ANTIM’ SCORES

Antim did well in the first week. Although the initial shows on the first day were not impressive, collections picked up as the day progressed. Overall, the weekend was good, and collections during the weekdays were also satisfactory. The first day closed at Rs. 5.03 crore. Collections on Saturday increased by 20% so that it closed at Rs. 6.03 crore. The Sunday total was Rs. 7.55 crore, taking the first weekend’s total to a healthy Rs. 18.61 crore. Collections for the weekdays were as follows: Monday – Rs. 3.24 crore, Tuesday – Rs. 2.90 crore, Wednesday – Rs. 2.50 crore, Thursday – Rs. 2.10 crore. In this way, the total for the weekdays was Rs. 10.74 crore. The first week, therefore, closed at Rs. 29.35 crore.

Satyameva Jayate 2, as predicted, met with a disastrous fate in its first 8-day week. It opened on Thursday to no particular advantage because the odd-day release ensured that the day closed at a pathetic Rs. 3 crore. Collections on Friday dropped to Rs. 2.10 crore because the word of mouth was negative all over. The Saturday figure of Rs. 2.30 crore was also far from impressive. The action film netted Rs. 2.90 crore on Sunday, thereby taking the 4-day weekend total to Rs. 10.30 crore. Collections during the weekdays were, of course, very low: Monday – Rs. 0.80 crore, Tuesday – Rs. 0.70 crore, Wednesday – Rs. 0.60 crore, Thursday – Rs. 0.55 crore. In this way, the total for the weekdays was a poor Rs. 2.65 crore. The 8-day week, therefore, closed at a miserable Rs. 12.95 crore.

Bunty Aur Babli 2, which had netted only Rs. 11.15 crore in the first week, could collect only Rs. 1.26 crore in the second week. Total for 2 weeks: Rs. 12.41 crore. Overseas, the Bunty Aur Babli sequel grossed an equivalent of Rs. 0.70 crore in 2nd week so that its total for 2 weeks went up to Rs. 7.20 crore.

Sooryavanshi crossed Rs. 190 crore in the fourth week. It netted Rs. 0.71 crore on the first day of the fourth week. Collections on Saturday doubled to Rs. 1.45 crore. On Sunday, the total was Rs. 2.05 crore. Therefore, the total collections for the fourth weekend was Rs. 4.21 crore. Collections during the weekdays were: Monday – Rs. 0.62 crore, Tuesday – Rs. 0.63 crore, Wednesday – Rs. 0.51 crore, Thursday – Rs. 0.47 crore. In this way, the total for the weekdays in the fourth week was Rs. 2.23 crore. So, the nett total for the fourth week was Rs. 6.44 crore. Grand total for 4 weeks: Rs. 191.35 crore.

Jhimma (Marathi) continued its victory march in 2nd week too. It is poised to prove a hit.
