Cirkus crashed further in the second week after a terribly disappointing first week. It netted Rs. 4.50 crore in the second weekend, and another Rs. 2 crore during the weekdays, taking the total for the second week to Rs. 6.50 crore. Grand total for 2 weeks: Rs. 33.35 crore.
Avatar: The Way Of Water (dubbed and original English versions) was the one-horse race in the third week too. All set to become Hollywood’s biggest blockbuster in India, it started its third weekend with an impressive take of Rs. 9.31 crore on Friday. Collections jumped to Rs. 11.78 crore on Saturday. The total for the third Sunday was an astounding Rs. 17.97 crore. In this way, the third weekend closed at Rs. 39.06 crore. Collections for the weekdays were as follows: Monday – Rs. 5.63 crore, Tuesday Rs. 3.85 crore, Wednesday – Rs. 3.26 crore, Thursday – Rs. 2.94 crore. With the total for the weekdays being Rs. 15.68 crore, the third week closed at Rs. 54.74 crore. Grand total for 3 weeks: Rs. 336.13 crore (1st week was Rs. 182.90 crore, not Rs. 190.75 crore; 2nd week was Rs. 98.49 crore, not Rs. 99.62 crore). The film will surpass Hollywood’s biggest blockbuster in India — Avengers: End Game — in the fourth week by crossing that film’s lifetime net total of Rs.367 crore!
Drishyam 2 netted Rs. 4.31 crore in the seventh weekend, and another Rs. 1.74 crore during the weekdays. Therefore, the total for 7th week was Rs. 6.05 crore. Grand total for 7 weeks: Rs. 236.75 crore!
Ved proves to be a blockbuster. It was off to such a flying start that the total for the first day was an outstanding Rs. 2.25 crore. This is the best opening for a Marathi film after the lockdown. Collections shot up by almost 45% on the second day which closed at Rs. 3.25 crore. The net total on Sunday was exactly double the total of Friday. After a stunning Rs. 4.50 crore on the third day, the first weekend closed at Rs. 10 crore! Collections on the weekdays were indeed earth-shattering because each day recorded better collections than the first day!! The total for Monday was Rs. 3.02 crore; Tuesday closed at Rs. 2.65 crore; Wednesday, at Rs. 2.55 crore; and Thursday, at Rs. 2.45 crore. In this way, the total for the weekdays was a phenomenal Rs. 10.67 crore, which was bigger than the total for the weekend. Therefore, the first week closed at an unbelievable Rs. 20.67 crore!! Believe it or not, the eighth day’s total was also higher than the first day’s figure. The second weekend started with a take of more than Rs. 2.50 crore!!!
