‘LEK ASAVI TAR ASHI’ (MARATHI) REVIEW | 26 April, 2024

Jyoti Pictures and Everest Entertainment’s Lek Asavi Tar Ashi (Marathi; UA) is the story of a girl being ill-treated by her step-brothers and their wives. She forgives them all in spite of bequeathing the family wealth.

Vijay Kondke has written a story and screenplay, which will not find favour with today’s audience. The proceedings fail to evoke sentiments among viewers. Since it is a family drama, the absence of emotional content dilutes its impact dramatically. Vijay Kondke’s dialogues are alright.

Gargi Datar does well as Jyoti. Yatin Karyekar performs ably as Gopalrao. Shubhangi Gokhale lends nice support as Gopalrao’s wife. Kamlesh Sawant has his moments as Shankar mama. Surekha Kudchi makes her mark as the mami. Onkar Bhojane and Prajakta Hanamghar evoke laughter with their comedy. Abhijeet Chavan, Savita Malpekar, Nayana Apte and Pritam Bhandare lend reasonable support. Others fit the bill.

Vijay Kondke’s direction is ordinary. Manohar Golambare’s music is nice. Vijay Kondke and Mangesh Kangane’s lyrics are meaningful. Sujeet Kumar’s choreography is eye-pleasing. Background music is impactful. K. Aniket’s cinematography is nice. Prashant Naik’s action and stunt scenes are functional. Satish Bidkar’s art direction is proper. Subodh Narkar’s editing should’ve been sharper.

On the whole, Lek Asavi Tar Ashi will not get the audience’s love because films like this are no longer preferred.

Released on 26-4-’24 at Plaza (daily 1 show) and other cinemas of Bombay thru PVR Inox Pictures. Publicity & opening: dull.
