Malayalam film director Liju Krishna was taken into police custody today (March 6) after a young woman, who was working in the unit of his under-production film, Padavettu, filed a complaint of alleged rape against him at the Kakkanad Infopark police station. This is Liju’s debut directorial venture which is also written by him. The filmmaker was arrested under section 376 of the IPC.
The film was being shot in Liju’s hometown, Kannur, when he was arrested, but the shooting came to a halt following the incident. The film stars Nivin Pauly, Manju Warrier and Aditi Balan.
