‘MANMAUJI’ (MARATHI) REVIEW | 8 November, 2024

Golden Gate Motion Pictures’ Manmauji (Marathi; UA) is the story of a young man who hates women.

Shree (Bhushan Patil) leads an ad agency. He despises women but is surrounded by women-employees. A lady, Meera (Ria Nalavade), joins his agency as assistant vice president. Shree soon starts falling in love with her, but Meera is already engaged to be married. What happens finally?

Sheetal Shetty has written a story which moves quite predictably. Her screenplay is engaging in parts but it gets boring after a point of time. Hrishikesh Joshi’s dialogues are fairly nice.

Bhushan Patil looks smart and acts well in the role of Shree. Ria Nalavade is confident as Meera. Sayali Sanjeev performs naturally. Bhau Kadam lends ordinary support. Sanjay Mone is adequate. Sunil Tawde is okay. Nishigandha Wad makes her presence felt. Arun Nalavade has his moments. Jaywant Wadkar leaves a mark. Sandeep Pathak is quite nice. Others lend the necessary support.

Sheetal Shetty’s direction is so-so. Music (by Amitraj and Pankaj Padghan) is functional. Lyrics (Kshitij Patwardhan and Valay Mulgund) are ordinary. Rahul-Sanjeev’s choreography is average. Pankaj Padghan’s background music ought to have been better. Prasad Bhende’s camerawork is appropriate. Yogesh Ingle’s art direction is good. Ashish Mhatre’s editing is reasonably sharp.

On the whole, Manmauji is too ordinary to make a mark at the ticket windows.

Released on 8-11-’24 at Gem (daily 1 show) and other cinemas of Bombay thru Filmastra Studios. Publicity & opening: poor.
