Mithun Chakraborty joined the Bharatiya Janata Party today (March 7) at Brigade Parade Ground in Calcutta ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s rally which was scheduled to start at 2 p.m. BJP leader Kailash Vijayvargiya, who met the actor at his Calcutta residence yesterday (6th March), welcomed him to the party today on stage.
Mithun had been a member of the Rajya Sabha as a candidate of the Trinamool Congress in 2014. He resigned in 2016, citing health reasons.
The West Bengal assembly elections will begin on 27th March.
