MUSIC BAND ACCUSES ‘KANTARA’ TEAM OF PLAGIARISM | 30 October, 2022

Kerala-based multi-genre independent music band Thaikkudam Bridge has accused the team of Kannada film Kantara of plagiarising its 2015 song, Navarasam. The band issued a press release last week to state that the similarity between its Navarasam and the film’s Varaha roopam song in terms of audio was a blatant infringement of copyright laws.

The Varaha roopam song from Kantara is composed by B. Ajaneesh Loknath. It was uploaded last week only. The Kerala-based band was formed in 2013. Composer and playback singer Govind Vasantha is one of the founding members of the band. He is known for his work in Tamil films 96, Hey Sinamika and Soorarai Pottru. Navarasam is the title track of the band’s 2015 debut eponymous album.
