‘NAVRA MAZA NAVSACHA 2’ (MARATHI) REVIEW | 20 September, 2024

Sushriya Chitra’s Navra Maza Navsacha 2 (Marathi) is the sequel to Navra Maza Navsacha (2005).

Vacky (Sachin Pilgaonkar) and Bhakti (Supriya Pilgaonkar) once again prepare to go to the Ganpatipule temple for Ganesh visarjan. This time over, their daughter, Shraddha (Hemal Ingle), has taken a vow to not get married till her fiancé, Lamby (Swapnil Joshi), doesn’t perform a pooja in the temple without his clothes, that too, in the presence of at least four persons. This is a big challenge because Lamby is an atheist.

There’s another track of diamonds being smuggled to Ganpatipule, using Vacky and Bhakti’s Ganesh idol. Do the police hold the couple responsible for the diamonds worth Rs. 800 crore when they seize them? And what happens to Lamby’s fulfillment of Shraddha’s vow?

Sachin Pilgaonkar has written a good story and peppered it with lots of comedy. There are some underlying emotions in the otherwise comic tale, and they are very heartwarming. Sachin’s screenplay is fast-paced and keeps the audience completely and thoroughly entertained. The portion of Lamby’s change of heart is very well-written. Even otherwise, the climax is exhilarating. Santosh Pawar’s dialogues are superb.

Sachin Pilgaonkar does an extremely fine job as Vacky. Supriya Pilgaonkar lives the role of Bhakti. Swapnil Joshi is impactful in the role of Lamby. Hemal Ingle does a fair job as Shraddha. Ashok Saraf lends able support as the golden-hearted ticket checker, Ashok. Vaibhav Mangle makes a lovely mark as don Devroopkar alias Sabu Kalia. Siddharth Jadhav makes a fine impression in a brief role as Yedapatil. Nirmiti Sawant has her moments in a tiny role as Lamby’s mother. Harish Dudhane (as Ranga) and Ganesh Pawar (as Billa) are adequate. Vijay Patkar, Ali Asgar, Jaywant Wadkar, Lilliput, Johny Lever and Sonu Nigam lend reasonable support. Others are alright.

Sachin Pilgaonkar’s direction is terrific. He has made a thorough entertainer for the masses, classes and families. Music (Jitendra Kulkarni, Raviraj Vijay Koltharkar and Avadhoot Gupte) is appealing. Lyrics (Pravin Davane, Vaibhav Joshi and Santosh Pawar) are okay. Dipali Vichare, Sadrick D’souza and Ajinkya Shinde do a lovely job of the song picturisations. Jitendra Kulkarni’s background music is pretty effective. Parag Deshmukh and Nitin Bandekar’s camerawork is of a fine standard. Paritosh Phutane’s art direction is good. Faisal Mahadik’s editing is super-sharp.

On the whole, Navra Maza Navsacha 2 is a sureshot hit.
