The coronavirus pandemic has resulted in untold losses in the film industry. While cinemas in many parts of the country reopened on 15th October after a seven-month lockdown, attendance in cinemas has been dismal in the first weekend after reopening. This is making other single-screen cinemas and multiplexes rethink whether they should reopen their properties just as yet or not. In the midst of such terrible times, what Chirag, Chintan and Kaushal Kakkad from Veraval (Saurashtra; Gujarat) are doing comes as absolutely great news. They will soon open a new cinema under the brand name of Fun Cinemas.
Fun, the national chain-holder with its parent brand, Cinepolis, is all set to open its three-screen miniplex at Veraval on October 23, 2020. The stand-alone property is on Veraval-Somnath Bypass Road. It is cases like this which gives the industry the confidence that the magic of the big screen and of Indian Cinema will never die.
