Actor Pankaj Tripathi has stepped down from the post of the National Icon of the Election Commission of India because of his upcoming film, Main Atal Hoon. In the film, he plays former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
The voluntary action came as a result of an MoU signed by the actor. The MoU mentions that the person appointed as the ECI National Icon will remain politically neutral.
