‘PAW PATROL: THE MIGHTY MOVIE’ (ANIMATION; DUBBED) REVIEW | 13 October, 2023

Spin Master Entertainment’s PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie (animation; dubbed from the Hollywood film of the same name) is the story of PAW Patrol pups, led by Ryder. The pups help to protect the citizens of Adventure City. Skye, the smallest team member, feels unappreciated and is trying hard to prove herself since childhood.

One day, meteor expert Victoria Vance steals a giant electromagnet from a junkyard for snatching a magical meteor. Although her plan fails to snatch the meteor fails, she ends up in Adventure City jail. But she escapes from jail with Mayor Humdinger and the Kitten Catastrophe Crew.

Meanwhile, the headquarter of PAW Patrol pups is destroyed, and so they move into a new place. Soon, Skye discovers that the PAW Patrol pups can transform into the Mighty pups with superpowers from the pups’ crystals. Vance lays her hands on Skye’s crystal and then, due to a blunder committed by Skye, manages to lay her hands on all the remaining crystals too. What happens thereafter? Does Skye have to pay a price for her blunder?

Cal Brunker, Bob Barlen and Shane Morris have written a fairy-tale-like story which will appeal to kids mainly. The screenplay (by Cal Brunker and Bob Barlen) is so-so. Some scenes and portions are pretty interesting while the others are routine and predictable. For the Hindi film-going audience, the animation characters are a minus point because the fondness for animation films is not universal.

Voice acting of the animation characters is good, generally speaking. The dialogues are okay.

Cal Brunker’s direction is fair. Animation is neat. Pinar Toprak’s music is alright. Peter Chan’s production designing and Jack Yu’s art direction are appropriate. Ed Fuller’s editing is quite sharp. Dubbing is good.

On the whole, PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie is a very ordinary fare.

Released on 13-10-’23 at Metro Inox (daily 1 show) and other cinemas of Bombay thru Viacom18 Motion Pictures. Publicity: poor. Opening: dull. …….Also released all over.
