S.K.P. Chowdary, producer of the dubbed Telugu version of Rajinikanth starrer Kabali, was arrested on June 14, allegedly for possessing cocaine. A total of Rs. 2.05 lakh was seized by the Cyberabad police from the Telugu film producer.
The charge of peddling drugs has been levied on him. A total of 82.75 grams of cocaine was seized from him today by the Rajendra Nagar police station, Cyberabad (Telangana).
A special police team arrested Chowdary while he was allegedly trying to sell cocaine in 90 sachets. The police also seized Rs. 2.05 lakh in cash, four mobile phones and a four-wheeler from him. The total seized property is worth Rs 78.50 lakh.
According to the police, Chowdary moved from Hyderabad to Goa after suffering losses in production and distribution business. He started a club in Goa, where he allegedly peddled drugs to friends and celebrities who came from Hyderabad, the police said. He is reportedly returned to Hyderabad in April this year.
While returning to Hyderabad on June 13, Chowdary is said to have procured 100 sachets of cocaine from a Nigerian (who is absconding). Out of this, 10 sachets of the drug were used by Chowdary for self-consumption and for selling to friends.
On June 13, a police team nabbed him while he was trying to sell cocaine. A case under the NDPS Act, 1985 was registered against the producer.
