The Bombay high court on 25th February rejected a quashing petition filed by producer Sudeep Kumar Saha in an alleged rape and blackmail case registered in Bombay in July 2020. His lawyer argued that no case was disclosed against Saha and alleged that the complainant had filed false complaints against him in the past too.
The public prosecutor and the complainant’s advocate submitted that the FIR, when read in its entirety, disclosed alleged serious offences against the accused, which needed further investigation. The complainant alleged that Saha had called her to a hotel at Juhu in Bombay in July 2016 under the pretext of casting her in a film. He had sexually assaulted her then and thereafter continued to have sexual relations with her on the false promise of a marriage.
