Popular Punjabi film actor and activist Deep Sidhu passed away today (15th February) in a road accident. He was 37. The accident took place around 9.30 p.m. on the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) Expressway near the Singhu border in the Delhi-Haryana region when the SUV he was travelling in rammed into a trailer. Deep died while on the way to the hospital. He was on his way from Delhi to Bhatinda in Punjab. His body has been sent to the Sonepat Civil Hospital for autopsy.
The actor was last year accused of instigating farmers (who were agitating against the three proposed farm Bills) in the Red Fort violence case on 26th January and was arrested on February 9, 2021 in connection with the case. An FIR was also filed against him in January 2021. He was granted bail on April 16 last year.
Deep Sidhu’s first film was Ramta Jogi (2015). He shot to fame in 2018 when his Jora Das Nimbria was released. He played the lead role of a gangster in that film. Its sequel was released in March 2020.
