‘PYAARI TARAWALI THE TRUE STORY’ REVIEW | 27 October, 2023

Omsheel Production’s Pyaari Tarawali The True Story (UA) is the story of a young lady whose quest for true love prompts her to marry different men.

Twice divorced Pyaari (Dolly Tomar) gets married to Laxman (Rajneesh Dubey) as she feels, he would love her always. However, she gets disillusioned once they have their first child, a daughter. Seeing Laxman’s attitude towards her change, Pyaari runs away with their daughter. Laxman, who is still in love with Pyaari, is willing to take her back in spite of the fact that she is staying with a Muslim man. Does Pyaari return to Laxman? Do they live happily ever after?

Rajneesh Dubey has written the story and screenplay based on a book of the same name. While the story has its heart in the right place, the screenplay is sketchy because it doesn’t show Laxman as an evil husband from whom Pyaari would be justified in running away. However, Rajneesh Dubey is unwilling to show Pyaari as a vamp. In fact, he wants the public to sympathise with her predicament. This is not possible because even if the viewer can understand Pyaari’s predicament, he will be unable to sympathise with her. By not showing what exactly went wrong in Pyaari’s two earlier marriages, the matter for the audience gets even more complicated. Therefore, even though the grammar of the screenplay is not wrong, Rajneesh Dubey doesn’t succeed in winning the audience over. His dialogues are ordinary.

Dolly Tomar does a fair job in the title role. Rajneesh Dubey is natural as Laxman. Bobby Vats is alright as Shakil Khan. Uday Atroliya lends reasonable support as Mama. Devu Namdev is pretty endearing and natural in the role of Ishwar. Satya Agnihotri (as Santosh), Bahadur Singh Dangi (as Pyaari’s father), Sangeeta Shrivastav (as Pyaari’s mother), Gourav Namdev (as Shadab Khan), Yogita Singh and Manju Raikwar (both as Laxman’s sisters-in-law), Randhir Thakur and Rohit Mewade (both as Laxman’s elder brothers), Sushil Soni (as Gopal Kak), Ram Shankar Shivhare (as Dullu Kaka), Chandrabhan Singh Patel (as Kishan), Tapashya Tiwari (as Kaki), Rajni Singh (as Jiji), Manju Sharma (as Manju Kaki), Hemant (as Laxman’s friend) and the others lend decent support. Others are alright.

Rajneesh Dubey’s direction is okay but his choice of subject leaves a lot to be desired. Music (R.P. Sony, Rajneesh Dubey, S. Kumar, Samarth Sharma and Zakir Sadani) is quite melodious but there are too many songs and none of them is of the popular variety. Lyrics (Manorama Singh, Rajneesh Dubey, S. Kumar, Ajaz Siddiqui and S. Raaj Bhaarti) are alright. Choreography (Rajneesh Dubey and Dharam) is dull. Aamir Shaikh’s background music is average. Camerawork (P. John Viji and Mahendra Sabhani) is ordinary. Chandu Yadav’s action and stunt scenes are functional. Art direction (Ajaz Siddiqui, Pankaj Pandey and Mrugaya Ramesh Keny) is routine. Editing (Dhirendra M. Dimri, Yogesh Pandey and Devu Namdev) is neat.

On the whole, Pyaari Tarawali The True Story is an ordinary fare but its commercial prospects are poor.
