Vivek Films Production House and VSB Pictures Pvt. Ltd.’s Pyar Mein Thoda Twist (UA) is designed as a romcom. Dheeraj Thakur (Mukesh J. Bharti) and Maya (Richa Mukherjee) are in love in spite of a long-standing rivalry between their families. Are they able to convince their families to bury the hatchet?
Abhishek Shashi Kumar has written a story and screenplay full of predictable twists and turns. While the romance is half-baked, the comedy is weak. Lack of novelty and abundance of clichéd situations are the biggest bane of the drama which, therefore, fails to involve the audience. Abhishek Shashi Kumar’s dialogues are below the mark.
Mukesh J. Bharti does not look like a young hero. His performance in the role of Dheeraj Thakur is ordinary. Richa Mukherjee is okay as Maya. Rajesh Sharma is fair in the role of Dheeraj’s father. Atul Srivastava has his moments as Maya’s dad. Govind Namdeo is good. Alka Amin lends fine support. Manju Bharti (as Paro), Samuel Charlie (as Mr. Wanted), Vijay Singh Bhadauria (as Dhaku), Arpit Singh (as Kishor), Noor Fatima (as Meena), Omkar Das Manikpuri (as Dhaniram), Soma Rathod (as Dhaniram’s wife), Saheb Das Manikpuri (as Kalu), Rajeev Pandey (as Kailash), Santosh Shukla (as Jeeva), Gulshan Pandey (as hawaldar), Rahul Sharma (as Dheeraj’s friend) and baby Shrishthi Mukesh Chandra (as Dhaniram’s daughter) provide routine support.
Parto Ghosh’s direction is okay. Bappi Lahiri’s music is ordinary. Lyrics (Deepak Sneh and Minoo Singh) are average. Urvi Jigar Dhruv’s choreography barely passes muster. Background music (Harshit Rathore) is functional. Amit Singh’s camerawork is so-so. Noor Maqbool’s action choreography is fair. Siddhant Malhotra’s art direction is dull. Sanjay Sankla’s editing ought to have been sharper.
On the whole, Pyar Mein Thoda Twist is a weak fare with bleak box-office chances.
